About Me
Hello, I am Ebru Liya, as a daughter of mixed racial parents and travelling around the world and never living in one place for more than 10 years. I found peace and stillness in my creativity. Since birth I have travelled from Asia to Africa from there to Middle East and now here, I am in North America. If you were to ask me the simplest question like, where are you from, I couldn’t
be able to answer it. I am from everywhere; I can’t say I don’t belong here I feel like I belong everywhere. My love for art started when I was 5 years old, I started drawing and painting and building dollhouses from every little stuff I collected. When I was in my early teen years I started struggling with other subjects like math and English, to escape from that overwhelming time I
used to draw, as I got older this situation bugged my teachers and they would get angry and collect my stuff from me. Years passed like that, and I became a highschooler, for the first time in my school life I had an incredible art teacher, she was very passionate to teach and explain art, I only had one class in two weeks with her so when I went into her class, I would give all my
attention. I guess she noticed me, one day we were doing a charcoal drawing, I was following her as usual as the class ended, she came to me and gifted me her charcoal pencil, and she told
me to continue what I am doing. The look she had on her face, put hope in me. Since then, I started exploring more and more about myself. Fashion has always been my favourite way to
express myself, I have always been passionate about my outfits and little details, I used to adjust on my clothes to make them look and fit how I want. Every little moment of me expressing
myself led me to choose follow my passion and enroll in fashion design technician program here in St.Clair College. From now on it is a whole other journey ahead, and I can’t wait to live it.
